As President of Operations at Prime Healthcare, Luis Leon began leading the charge through exponential growth starting in 2012, facilitating advantageous acquisitions, affiliations, and partnerships with numerous physicians, hospitals, and health care systems. Through collaborative, inclusive leadership, Mr. Leon steered the organization through transformational change improving patient care, augmenting market share, strengthening physician and employee relations, propelling budget surpluses, and expediting expansion.

Mr. Leon has sparked significant change within Prime Healthcare, providing patients with greater access to compassionate care every day, while positively impacting financial performance through the acquisition, and then revitalization, of flagging operations around the United States—strategically positioning Prime Healthcare for future success. Throughout his tenure, Prime Healthcare has grown to be the 5th largest for-profit acute care hospital system within the United States. Prime has been recognized as a Top 15 Health System three times by Truven Health Analytics, and numerous Prime hospitals have been recognized as Top 100 hospitals multiple times.

Mr. Leon was instrumental in expanding the Prime Healthcare family from 15 hospitals in California in 2011 to 45 hospitals across 14 states today, with a total of nine acquisitions completed in 2015 alone. Prime Healthcare has tripled its net revenue and increased EBITDA significantly systemwide from 2011 to today. Its facilities have 8,350 licensed beds, 40,000 employees, 15,000+ physicians (500 employed through medical groups)— treating 2+ million patients per year. It also has 90+ outpatient sites, multiple medical groups, and additional programs, including wound care, behavioral health, and recognized cardiac services—serving more than 600 communities around the nation.

A native of Cuba, Mr. Leon emigrated with his family to the United States as a young boy. He and his wife, Loyda, currently reside in Riverside, California with their two sons, Anthony and Andrew. Mr. Leon is an accomplished singer, and a classically trained musician proficient on several instruments, including the organ, which he plays often at church. He and his family regularly conduct fundraising concerts, providing much-needed scholarship money for music students in need. Over the years, Mr. Leon has performed in several operas and musicals. He is also a fan of the outdoors, enjoys running, camping, off-roading, and especially enjoys gardening.
